The Committee on Relations with Serbs Living Outside Serbia held its fifteenth sitting on 15 July 2010. The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Branimir Djokic and attended by Miodrag Jaksic and Predrag Tojic, State Secretaries at the Ministry of the Diaspora, and Chief of Staff Lidija Dimitrijevic, as well as a delegation of the Serbian community in Macedonia.

The Committee members considered the Ministry of the Diaspora representatives’ Report on the first, constituting sitting of the Assembly of the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region. State Secretary at the Ministry of the Diaspora Miodrag Jaksic thanked the Committee Chairman and members who attended the Assembly of the Diaspora, adding that the working part of the sitting resulted in defining the goals of the Assembly of the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, as well as of all those who take part in the implementation of the policies towards the diaspora. The main goal will be to further position Serbia as the mother state of all of its citizens living abroad, by regaining their trust into Serbian institutions, improving their status, as well as raising public awareness on the importance of the diaspora and Serbs in the region. Jaksic added that a better use of the capacities of the diaspora and Serbs in the region and the preservation of national, religious and cultural identity among the almost four million Serbs living all over the world, would also be future priority goals.

The Committee members considered the information on the visit of the Committee on Relations with Serbs Living Outside Serbia delegation to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska presented by the delegation head Dr Janko Veselinovic and the information on the visit of the Committee on Relations with Serbs Living Outside Serbia delegation to the Republic of Macedonia, summarised by the delegation head Milorad Buha. Following a short discussion, the Committee members adopted the reports.

The Committee members went on to talk to the delegation of the Serbian community in Macedonia on the position, work and activities of Serbs in Macedonia.
