Speaking with the delegation members, Committee Chairman Aleksandar Senic stressed that the Serbian Parliament is pro-European, which makes the operation of the supreme legislative body a great deal easier but at the same time obliges it to conduct the European integration process with speed and efficiency.

Senic briefed the delegation members on the documents passed by the National Assembly which set out the principles and procedures for Serbia’s EU accession, stressing that Serbia is ready to open chapter 32 – financial control.

The officials also discussed the harmonisation of domestic legislation with the EU acquis, underlining the importance of dialogue between the legislative and executive government and the civil society for Serbia’s EU accession process.

The Committee delegation, comprising representatives of the 28 EU member states, is in a three-day visit to Serbia at the initiative of Italy, currently presiding over the EU Council.
