European Integration Committee Deputy Chairman Milan Radin Meets with German Bundestag Member Fabian Funke

The Deputy Chairman of the European Integration Committee Milan Radin met with Fabian Funke, member of the German Bundestag, in the National Assembly House today.

The German MP was primarily interested in the process of the Republic of Serbia’s European integration. He expressed the opinion that the Balkans are an integral part of Europe which is why the Western Balkans needs to join the European Union. The European Integration Committee Deputy Chairman Milan Radin stressed that European integration remains Serbia’s strategic foreign policy goal and the Government of the Republic is working hard to open new clusters. He pointed out that Serbia is fully ready for the opening of cluster 3, as well as another cluster.

Radin and Funke also discussed the current situation in Kosovo-Metohija. Radin emphasised that the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vucic, remains committed to the continuation of negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina at the highest level, even if Pristina still refuses dialogue. He reminded that it is the Pristina side that has not fulfilled the obligations it assumed by signing the Brussels Agreement, especially the one concerning the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities.

Among other topics of the meeting were the upcoming elections in the Republic of Germany, harmonising Serbia's visa regime with the European Union and media freedom in Germany and Serbia.

Radin emphasised the importance of cooperation between the two countries, pointing out that Germany, as an investor, is highly positioned in our country, and the officials agreed that the successful economic and political cooperation should be continued in the future.
