European Integration Committee Delegation at Meeting of COSAC Chairpersons

A delegation of the European Integration Committee is taking part in the meeting of the chairpersons of the Conference of parliamentary committees for union affairs of EU member states – COSAC, held in Luxembourg within the parliamentary dimension of Luxembourg’s Presidency of the European Union Council.

The Committee delegation comprises Committee Chairman Aleksandar Senic and Committee member Vesna Markovic. The meeting will be dedicated to a discussion on Luxembourg’s Presidency of the European Union and strengthening of the political dialogue by introducing a “green card” and improvement of the reasoned opinion procedure (“yellow card”).

Committee Chairman Aleksandar Senic said Serbia is aware that enlargement will not be among the priorities of Luxembourg’s Presidency considering the great many important issues which are the EU’s priorities at the moment. As a representative of a Western Balkan country he hopes that the enlargement process will continue and that the countries of the region will achieve their European perspective. He said that Serbia is dedicated to regional cooperation, evident in its collaboration with the governments and parliaments in the region.

He added that Serbia is ready to open the first negotiation chapters, hoping that they would be opened by the end of the year.

He also hopes that the fellow parliamentarians will support Serbia in their respective parliaments.
