European Integration Committee Continues Cooperation with Konrad Adenauer Foundation

MP Marinika Tepic met today at the National Assembly House with the Director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Serbia (KAS) Norbert Beckmann-Dierkes to discuss the existing and promote future cooperation between the European Integration Committee and KAS.

As the Chairperson of the European Integration Committee, Tepic opined that so far the Committee and KAS have enjoyed a very high level of cooperation and realized projects which taught both the MPs and the public at large a great deal about the European integration process and raised awareness on the European values the Union is based on. Tepic also took the opportunity to draw attention to civil society organizations as important factors in the talks between Serbia and the EU which constructively contribute to the process of harmonization of the national legislation with EU regulations. She emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with the National Convention on the European Union which has played an advisory role by providing recommendations about the proposed negotiation positions. Finally, she hoped that the cooperation with KAS would be continued in 2017 through project “Europe in My Town”.

The Director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Serbia Norbert Beckmann-Dierkes agreed with Tepic that so far the cooperation with the European Integration Committee has been exceptionally good and that future work on project “Europe in My Town”, aimed at promoting European values in Serbian towns and municipalities, it would expand even further. He stressed that civil society organizations play an important role in the European integration process, adding that the Foundation continues to support the cooperation between the Committee and the National Convention on the European Union. In conclusion he said that the European Union is committed to a peaceful future and that he was pleased that both the ruling majority and the coalition in Serbia stand united in their stance on the country’s European future.
