In his explanation he highlighted the very positive results achieved by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia within its legislative process which proved significant in the EC’s final decision to recommend that the Council of Ministers should decide to recognise Serbia’s candidacy status. He also stressed that Serbia still has plenty to accomplish in its further steps toward full membership, emphasising the importance of achieving further progress in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

The National Assembly Speaker was pleased by the fact that the parliamentary group heads and she have the opportunity to be directly informed by Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Füle of both the content of the EC decision and many other aspects relating to it.

The parliamentary group heads commended the fact that Füle presented the EC Report at the National Assembly, as well as the decision to grant Serbia candidacy status. They were interested in the various aspects both of the content of the decision and Füle’s explanation, to which the European Commissioner provided answers.
