Environmental Protection Committee Member Ivan Karic at 26th Economic Forum in Poland

Environmental Protection Committee member Ivan Karic is taking part in the 26th Economic Forum, in Krynica, Poland, 7-9 September 2015.


Karic is one of the speakers at the panels on “Future of Renewable Energy Resources” and “Sustainable Development of the Countries of the Carpathian Region: Transportation, Culture and Environmental Protection”. The Economic Forum in is organised by the Institute for Eastern Studies from Warsaw.

Speaking at the panel “Future of Wind Farms”, Ivan Karic said that the construction of wind farms is in its inception stage in Serbia. The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Renewable Energy Resources Development Strategy 2015-2025 with projections to 2030 according to which this renewable energy resource is expected to be developed. Karic added that other countries’ experiences regarding the use of wind power and construction of wind farms is invaluable for Serbia.

In the panel “Europe of the Carpathian Region – resources for future development” Ivan Karic said that the Republic of Serbia as an EU candidate country is engaging in negotiations per chapter which should serve as an instrument of development in the future. In that sense, Serbia supports the cooperation between the countries of the Carpathian Region, especially in the spheres of agriculture and tourism which offer the biggest potential for the employment of young people and their continued residence in rural areas.

The 26th Economic Forum in Krynica is attended by more than 4,000 representatives of parliaments, governments, business sector and the academic community from almost all the countries in the world.
