Elvira Kovacs and Dubravka Filipovski Elected to Leading PACE Positions

Elvira Kovacs and Dubravka Filipovski, members of the National Assembly standing delegation to PACE, were elected to leading positions at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.


Elvira Kovacs was elected Chairperson of the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination, thus also becoming a member of the Bureau, PACE executive body, as well as many other bodies. She will be serving as Chairperson for the duration of 2018 and 2019.

Dubravka Filipovski was elected Vice-President of the newly-established Free Democrats Group (FDG).

In the course of the PACE session, the Political Committee is expected to exchange views on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and Serbia’s rights and duties stemming from its membership in the Monitoring Committee.

The delegation is headed by Dr Aleksandra Tomic and comprises Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic, Aleksandar Seselj and Aleksandar Stevanovic who actively participating in the plenary debates and the committees’ work.

The main topics of the session are protection of regional and minority languages, situation in Ukraine, protection of children in war conflicts, Israeli-Palestinian relations, Turkish military intervention in Syria, and the parliamentarians will be addressed by the Danish Princess, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen.
