Elvira Kovacs Elected Vice-Chairperson of PACE Sub-Committee on the Rights of Minorities

Elvira Kovacs, member of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), was elected Vice-Chairperson of PACE Sub-Committee on the Rights of Minorities, at the Committee meeting, for a period of one year.


“As Sub-Committee Vice-Chairperson I will be able to take more part in monitoring human rights and the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities, as well as in the creation of the Parliamentary Assembly’s stands on this most important of issues. I will use my experience to help my colleagues in the Sub-Committee’s work and raise the visibility of the National Assembly in the PACE”, said Kovacs.

At the meeting of the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination, Elvira Kovacs was selected as rapporteur on the topic “Growing hate-speech and role of the political leaders in fighting hate crime”. As rapporteur Elvira Kovacs will work on the preparation of a report and resolution on the topic over two years, on which the parliamentarians will vote at a plenary session.
