The Committee sitting was attended by Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Rodoljub Sabic and President of the State Audit Institution Radoslav Sretenovic.
The representatives of the independent regulatory bodies gave their vision for the future cooperation with the Assembly’s Committee as regards the supervision and control of the security services in the upcoming year. In the discussion, they pointed out the importance of the Committee’s regular cooperation with the independent bodies and both sides declared themselves ready to ascertain the dynamics of said cooperation and adjust their activity plans for 2013 accordingly.
Committee Chairperson Jadranka Joksimovic proposed that, next year, the State Auditor should initiate a finance control of the Security Information Agency. State Auditor Sretenovic applauded the initiative announcing that he would request that the SAI’s 2013 activity plan includes financial control be it of the Security Information Agency, Military Intelligence Agency or Military Security Agency.
The Committee Chairperson also initiated legal regulation of the telecommunications operators’ surveillance of the citizens’ communication because it was noticed that it violated the provisions of the Electronic Communications Law.
The Committee members endorsed the establishment of regular cooperation, they endorsed the work of independent state bodies and recommended strengthening their staff and material capacities.
It was concluded that, by the end of January, the independent regulatory bodies should submit their proposals to the Committee containing deadlines for the deliberation on their regular activity reports.
