In the course of the meeting, the officials discussed the potential for and modalities of cooperation, parliamentary and economic, between Serbia and Montenegro, with the aim of a joint venture onto third markets.
The Chairperson of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy, Dr Aleksandra Tomic said that, by cooperating in the areas of economy, energy, trade and tourism, the two countries could be jointly presented to the European Union and many other economic subjects. To that end, she briefed the Montenegrin guest on the details of the Committee’s meeting with a delegation of the Association of Italian Entrepreneurs in the Republic of Serbia “Confindustria Serbia” of 25 September 2014. “Confindustria Serbia” is part of the large “Confindustria Italia” system comprising 150,000 companies in Italy. Tomic pointed out the growing interest in organising a regional conference in Montenegro where interested Italian companies and businessmen could make proposals for future projects.
The Committee Chairperson also pointed out that there is room to set up a regional South-East European market.
National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Committee member Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic highlighted the importance of parliamentary cooperation, especially between the two committees in charge of economy, for furthering political and economic relations between Serbia and Montenegro and enabling them to make a joint venture onto third markets.
The Chairman of the Montenegrin Parliament’s Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget, MA Aleksandar Damjanovic emphasised the importance of maintaining the continuity of the existing cooperation between the two parliamentary committees in the field of economy and in the context of opening the EU negotiations chapters.
The officials agreed that it would prove significant to set up a joint meeting and session of the National Assembly’s Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy and the Montenegrin Parliament’s Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget, and organise a regional conference.
