Dr Orlic Meets with the Chairperson of the Standing Commission on Economy, Budget and Finance of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Ambassador of Belarus

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic met today, on the sidelines of the 60th General Assembly of the of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), with the Chairperson of the Standing Commission on Economy, Budget and Finance of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Tatiana Runets and the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Serbia, H.E. Valery Brylev.

In the course of the meeting, Dr Orlic took the opportunity to thank the representatives of the Parliament of Belarus for their participation in the PABSEC General Assembly.

The bilateral relations between the two countries and their further improvement through interparliamentary cooperation, primarily through the active linking of parliamentary friendship groups were on the agenda. In that regard, Dr Orlic expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Tatiana Runets is also a member of the Parliament of Belarus Working Group for Cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

In light of the fact that the Republic of Serbia 2023 Budget Bill is being discussed at the current Third Sitting of the Second Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2022, Dr Orlic informed the guests about Serbia’s economic achievements. "The 2023 budget best reflects the state policy we pursued in previous years, as well as the big plans we have for the future. We wish everyone else to achieve the successes that Serbia has," said Dr Orlic.

The Chairperson of the Standing Commission and Ambassador Brylev confirmed the principled position of non-recognition of so-called "Kosovo" and continued support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia, which the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia expressed gratitude for. "Being on Serbia’s side today means being on the side of international law," said Dr Orlic.

He informed the guests about the current situation in Kosovo-Metohija and Pristina’s dangerous provocations which violate all the signed agreements. "Serbs are also physically threatened, people are beaten, arrested, their lives are ruined because of "verbal abuse", their property is confiscated. The ultimate goal of this terror is clear - to expel the Serbs from Kosovo-Metohija. Serbia will not allow that and stands strongly with its people. This is the message of the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and the entire country," said the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
