Digitalization as Priority

Dr Milorad Mijatovic, member of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), took part in the regional seminar on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, in Lisbon, 5-6 June.

This, the second seminar for the IPU’s Twelve Plus Geopolitical Group on the topic, was co-organized jointly by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal. Special emphasis was placed on the role of parliaments and their members in improving public health and promoting innovation. The seminar was opened by IPU President Gabriela Cuevas Barron and the Chair of the Twelve Plus Geopolitical Group Duarte Pacheco, who reminded the attending of the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr Mijatovic conveyed Serbia’s innovation-related experience, stressing that digitalization is a priority for the Serbian Government and the National Assembly plays an exceptionally important role in the matter. The National Assembly uses innovations in its everyday work, for example it has introduced e-Parliament and livestreaming of the plenary sessions and committee and other working bodies’ meetings.
