Dacic at PACE Standing Committee Meeting

Today, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic took part in the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, in the capacity of the Head of the standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

In the course of the meeting, the participants exchanged views on current topics in the Council of Europe’s purview with Michael Roth, German Minister of State for Europe and the Federal Government’s Special Envoy for Germany’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

In her address to the participants, Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejcinovic Buric spoke about COVID-19 and the Council of Europe’s role in the fight against the pandemic, with a special focus on human rights issues and the vaccination process.

As part of the discussion on current issues, the participants addressed the topic of "Democracies facing COVID-19", focusing on the importance of fully respecting human rights and the rule of law, in spite of the challenges facing the countries in the fight against the pandemic.
