Dacic and Osmani: Difficult Times Further Strengthen Friendship between Serbia and North Macedonia

The Spaeker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia Bujar Osmani.

National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic opined that the bilateral relations between Serbia and North Macedonia are good, as evidenced by the intensive political dialogue and exchange of high and highest-level visits.

He expressed readiness to continue working on the improvement of bilateral cooperation and strengthening ties between the two countries in his new position. He pointed out that the friendship between the two countries and the two peoples was additionally strengthened in these difficult times, as proven by the vaccines donated by Serbia to North Macedonia as a sign of solidarity.

Minister Osmani agreed that the relations between the two countries are developing in the right direction, pointing out that cooperation with the countries in the region is a priority for Northern Macedonia’s Government, and accordingly, his first visit as Minister of Foreign Affairs is a visit to Serbia. He stressed the importance of continuous political dialogue as it is the best way to resolve all issues. He thanked Serbia for the donation of vaccines, presented some days ago by President A. Vucic to the Prime Minister of North Macedonia Z. Zaev.

The officials agreed that the two countries already have a good practice of cooperation through the mechanism of joint governmental sessions and the work of the Mixed Commission, adding that it should be continued. Possibilities for strengthening parliamentary cooperation were discussed and it was agreed to intensify contacts and visits between parliamentary friendship groups and parliamentary committees, as well as to soon organize visits at the level of parliamentary speakers.
