Czech Republic supports Serbia's European Integration Process

Delegation of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee visited the Czech Republic at the invitation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and had a series of meetings with officials from both houses of the Czech Parliament and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation was headed by National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Marina Ragus, and included Committee members Tanja Radjenovic and Mgr Akos Ujhelyi.

They met with the First Deputy President of the Senate Jiri Drahos, Chairman of the Senate Committee on EU Affairs Jan Schiller, Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Jan Skopecek, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies Committee on Foreign Affairs Radek Vondracek, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies Committee on European Affairs Petr Fifka and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eduard Hulicius.

In the course of the meeting, the officials underscored the traditional friendship and good cooperation that Serbia has with the Czech Republic and the desire for this cooperation to continue in the future, especially in terms of European integration and the improvement of economic cooperation. The Czech officials clearly emphasised that they support Serbia's membership in the European Union. It was mutually assessed that there is room for the development of cooperation in the areas of education, innovation, biotechnology and artificial intelligence.

Our delegation particularly pointed out the difficult situation in which Serbs live in Kosovo-Metohija and the continuous violation of their human and civil rights. The presented data on ethnically motivated attacks in the recent period and expressed concern because none of these attacks had a judicial epilogue. The Czech officials were also informed about the latest events that have brought unrest in Kosovo-Metohija, as well as throughout Serbia. "A step towards a safer life for Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija is the earliest possible formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, which Pristina has ignored for the past twelve years," concluded Marina Ragus.
