Culture and Information Committee Members Meet with Iranian Parliamentary Delegation

Natasa Micic, Deputy Chairperson of the Culture and Information Committee, and Committee members Dragana Kostic, Natasa Mihailovic Vacic and Mirko Krlic, met with the delegation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia at the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly headed by Parvaneh Salahshouri.


Committee Deputy Chairperson Natasa Micic said she was very pleased by the intensification of cooperation between the two countries and the fact that the abolition of visas for Serbian citizens has opened up new opportunities for them to visit Iran and learn about its rich history and culture. She spoke about the presence of Iranian culture in Serbia and how important it is, expressing her pleasure at the possible exhibition of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade and the translation of an anthology of Persian literature into Serbian.

Natasa Micic also informed the Iranian delegation about the scope and activities of the Culture and Information Committee.

The Head of the PFG with Serbia Parvaneh Salahshouri said that cultural cooperation is an important segment of the cooperation between Serbia and Iran adding that the parliamentary committees on culture could play a significant role in the promotion of cultural cooperation and exchange between the two countries.

The officials exchanged information on the scope and work of the two parliaments’ respective culture committees and the Iranian delegation was also briefed on the duties, mode of operation and election of members of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM).

The members of the Culture and Information Committee also thanked Iran for its support of Serbia’s territorial integrity and non-recognition of the independence of Kosovo, as well as its help at the time of Kosovo’s UNESCO bid.
