Cooperation in the Field of Environmental Protection
The Committee on Environmental Protection of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia held a meeting on October 4, 2001 with representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Landscape Planning of the Republic of Italy.
Committee member Srda Popovic informed the guests about the priorities of environmental protection, the protection projects where the cooperation of the Italian Government was expected, as well as about the intention of amending Yugoslav legislation concerning ecological issues.
The Italian representative in the talks, Massimo Lozzone, cited the ecological protection of the Pancevo area as a specific example where Italy was interested in cooperating. He also stressed Italy's readiness to cooperate in the adoption of legislation to establish a viable relationship between environmental protection, economic growth and needs of the population.
