Chairman of the National Assembly meets President of the Slovenian parliament

The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, met a delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, led by the President, France Cukjati.


The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, met a delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, led by the President, France Cukjati.

Mr Markovic said that replations between Serbia and Slovenia were friendly and improving, and that Slovenia's positive experiences could be of great use in the process of Serbia's further integration into the European Union. Mr Markovic also expressed his satisfaction with the announcement that the Slovenian Government had set the signing of the social agreement as its priority, enabling freedom of movement for people, the regulation of property rights, as well as the intensification of economic activities.

Mr Cukjati said that his visit to Serbia and Montenegro was the first official visit abroad since the formation of the new convocation of the Slovenian Assembly, showing the importance attached in Slovenia to the co-operation between the two countries, as well as to strengthening ties in the region. He also stressed the readiness of the Slovenian Assembly to give its full support and assistance to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in the process of harmonising domestic legislation with European standards.
