CEI PD General Committee on Economic Affairs Meeting

The General Committee on Economic Affairs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Central European Initiative Parliamentary Dimension (CEI PD) held a meeting today, as part of the session of the international parliamentary organisation hosted by the National Assembly.

The Committee meeting was dedicated to the topics of innovation in the field of renewable energy sources, stable energy supply and green energy transition, which Branimir Jovanovic, member of the National Assembly delegation to the CEI PD, assessed are among the greatest challenges and potentials of our time.

"The future of our economy, as well as the quality of life of citizens, largely depend on how we manage energy resources and how ready we are to accept new technologies and sustainable development models," Jovanovic pointed out, adding that this topic is not only an economic, but also a security and political issue.

He emphasised that for this reason, the exchange of experiences and good practices, as well as the strengthening of cooperation, is very important, to secure a common, stable and sustainable energy future for the region.

MP Dr Aleksandra Tomic stressed that the green energy transition is a path towards a change in the way energy is produced, distributed and consumed, and emphasised that it is an ecological, as well as an economic issue, and a question of social responsibility. She addressed the role of parliamentarians in aligning national policies with global climate goals and pointed to the importance of international parliamentary organisations in encouraging the energy transition.

In the course of the meeting, attended by members of the General Committee on Economic Affairs, as well as Danijela Isailovic, representative of the association "Renewable Energy Sources of Serbia", the participants shared their views and expert opinions on these topics.
