Bulgarian Embassy and National Assembly Sign Non-Refundable Aid Agreement

National Assembly Secretary General Svetislava Bulajic and Bulgarian Ambassador to Serbia H.E. Radko Vlaykov signed an Agreement on Non-Refundable Aid for the realization of project “Creation of a continuous and sustainable improvement system for the working processes in the National Assembly Support Service”.

Secretary General Bulajic said she was most pleased by the cooperation agreement concerning the National Assembly and its Support Service.

“It is a sign that the National Assembly Support Service has been recognized and selected as a credible institutional partner in the Republic of Serbia, and to me that is the single most important affirmation of Serbia’s serious commitment to the European integration process”, said Bulajic.

She added that the non-refundable aid means serious work on the implementation of the Agreement and the professionalization and standardization of the operation of the National Assembly Support Service.

“It is important that this Agreement comes at a moment when our good neighbour is beginning a new type of cooperation and is an ideal partner not only because the Republic of Bulgaria has assumed Presidency of the EU Council, but because our two countries have long maintained good-neighbourly relations and this can also be viewed as friendly support on the road Bulgaria has already gone down and hopefully we will soon follow”, concluded the National Assembly Secretary General.

After the Agreement was signed, Bulgarian Ambassador to Serbia H.E. Radko Vlaykov said that the parliament is one of the most important instruments of democracy in a country.

“The document we signed today is a clear testament to the support the National Assembly has from the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry and the country’s Embassy in Belgrade because we are sure you following the right path and we continue to actively support Serbia not just politically, but practically as well”, said the Bulgarian Ambassador.

Ambassador Vlaykov said that this is the first time that Bulgaria is taking part in supporting the state administration in Serbia and the signing of the Agreement with the National Assembly is a clear sign of Bulgaria’s trust in the National Assembly and its Support Service.

“Bulgaria offers strong political support to Serbia’s path to the EU and I am sure that very soon we will both be in it. I am sure the Serbian Parliament will do all in its power to harmonize its national legislation with the European, and this project is our shared responsibility, as well as our shared achievement”, Vlaykov concluded.

The value of the one-year project Creation of a continuous and sustainable improvement system for the working processes in the National Assembly Support Service” is 4 million RSD secured from the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry’s programme “Cooperation for Development”.
