Assembly Speaker Talks at Seminar on Condition of Children and Children’s Rights in Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and Chairperson of the Children’s Rights Working Group, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic opened a seminar with the topic “UN Committee Conclusions and Recommendations to the Government of the Republic of Serbia – conditions in the legislation and on executive government level” organised by UNICEF.



The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and Chairperson of the Children’s Rights Working Group, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic opened a seminar with the topic “UN Committee Conclusions and Recommendations to the Government of the Republic of Serbia – conditions in the legislation and on executive government level” organised by UNICEF.

In her opening address, the Assembly Speaker talked how important the issue of children and their rights is for the Assembly and the measures that should be implemented to draw children into focus. She particularly stressed that the progress in children’s right protection in Serbia is evident, but that that problems still exist in almost all areas. Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic also pointed out the fact that “the Assembly Working Group comprises representatives form all the political groups which clearly shows that all the political powers in the country are prepared to make the effort and contribute to a greater investment into children and recognition of the rights of every child in Serbia”.
