National Assembly Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received a delegation of the France-Western Balkans Friendship Group of the Senate of the Republic of France headed by Jean-Pierre Michel, senator of the Haute-Saône region.

National Assembly Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received a delegation of the France-Western Balkans Friendship Group of the Senate of the Republic of France headed by Jean-Pierre Michel, senator of the Haute-Saône region.

The officials agreed that the friendship of the two people offers an excellent basis for furthering interparliamentary cooperation between Serbia and France via parliamentary bodies, committees and friendship groups. Michel stressed that France fully supports Serbia’s speedy integration into the EU since according to him “France and Serbia and the whole Balkan region would benefit from Serbia’s EU membership”.

Djukic-Dejanovic was grateful for the support and informed the delegation members on the details of Serbia’s efforts in the sphere of European integration.

The Assembly Speaker stressed that it would be beneficial if the Serbian MPs and representatives of the support services were briefed on the French experience, particularly when reviewing the harmonisation of bills with EU laws. In that regard it would be very useful if the French Parliament’s experts were to visit the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and offer to share their experience with the Serbian parliamentarians.
