Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee Chairman Meets with Representatives of Competent Ministry and Agricultural Associations

The Chairman of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee Marijan Risticevic met today at the National Assembly House with a number of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and of agricultural associations.


First off, the Committee Chairman emphasized the importance of agriculture as the oldest branch of economy stressing that the National Assembly and its Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee are open to all agricultural producers, their questions and suggestions. Marijan Risticevic said that this was a very successful year for agricultural producers, which is why the agricultural incentives have gone up from 19 billion RSD in 2012 to 41.5 billion RSD in 2019. He emphasized the importance of the processing industry and food production adding that it is paramount to be a competitive force on the neighbouring markets. He said that the incentive and subsidy funds are not lacking, however the efficiency of application processing could stand to be improved.

State Secretary Velimir Stanojevic addressed the attending on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management saying that the budget allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management has been on the rise and will in 2019 be about 7.6 billion RSD higher than in 2018 i.e. 51 billion RSD. All of these funds are earmarked for agricultural subsidies and incentives. Stanojevic spoke about the new rulebooks and measures employed to offer better terms for agricultural producers, adding that the focus of these efforts is on modernization of mechanisation for plant and cattle production and tractors which have been in a very poor condition in the last couple of years. He went on to say that only last week 2500 documents concerning mechanisation and tractors were issued.

The attending were also addressed by Zoran Milicevic, Chairman of the Board of the Serbian Association of Agro-Producers, who listed the problems troubling the agricultural producers, among them the difficult living and working conditions in rural areas.

The meeting also touched on agricultural incentives and subsidies, meat export-import, plant production, vaccination and keeping young people in rural areas.

The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Veterinary Directorate Emina Milakara, assistant head of the Veterinary Directorate Bojan Zivkovic assistant head of the Directorate for Agrarian Payments Dragoslav Milutinovic, assistant head of agrarian payments Bosko Umetic, on behalf of the Veterinary Directorate Maja Andrijasevic and Boban Djuric, and representatives of agricultural associations.
