At its session held on 1 April, the Finance Committee discussed the election of a member of the Serbian Assembly’s delegation to a seminar organised by the International Monetary Fund in Vienna from 12 to 16 April; the representative was not elected, however, as members of the Committee decided to ask the Chairman of the Assembly, Predrag Markovic, for more information about the invitation to the seminar.

Members of the Finance Committee elected Radojko Obradovic, a deputy from the ranks of the Democratic Party of Serbia, vice-chairman of the Committee.

The Committee discussed annual reports submitted by political parties under the Act on the Financing of Political Parties, and agreed to request the Ministry of Finance to investigate the activities of political parties, as 282 parties are registered, but only 50 reports were received by the Committee.

The Committee’s chairman, Nenad Bogdanovic, suggested that a three-member body, composed of law and economics (accounting) experts, should be formed in order for the Committee to operate more efficiently. The chairman also proposed that the Ministry of Finance should be requested to assign its experts to perform audits of political parties’ financial reports.
