At its sixth session, held on 10 May, the Agriculture Committee discussed the Report on the hailstorm protection system on the territory of the Republic of Serbia, submitted by the Republic Weather Bureau. Djordje Kardum, the Bureau’s Assistant Director, explained problems faced by the service, especially with regard to the financing of hailstorm defence measures and the purchase of rockets, as well as their quality, stressing that it was necessary to pass legislation regulating the field of hailstorm protection as soon as possible.

The Committee concluded that funds would have to be made available for the purchase of 4,000 anti-hailstorm rockets, as well as for a pay increase for gunners at rocket stations and for improving the stations themselves. The Committee also resolved to exert its authority for the passage of an Act regulating hailstorm defence as soon as possible.

The Committee discussed its project for applying for funding from the OSCE Committee Development Fund, as well as the Committee’s plan of activities for this year.
