The session of the Culture and Information Committee, held on 20 April, discussed the planned activities of the Ministry of Culture in the first quarter of 2004, as well as information relating to key issues in the implementation of the Broadcasting Act.

Minister of Culture, Dragan Kojadinovic, spoke of the Ministry’s activities in the past months, stressing that the fire in the Hilandar monastery and the violence in Kosovo and Metohia exerted the greatest influence on the Ministry. Listing problems faced by the Ministry, Mr Kojadinovic underlined that money invested in culture had to be used for projects known to be specific, tangible and visible, and asked for more assets to be used for projects in the interior.

Discussing key issues relating to the implementation of the Broadcasting Act, members of the Committee concluded that it was necessary to find the best possible solution for the implementation of the Broadcasting Act, and complete the Broadcasting Council as soon as possible.

The session was chaired by Aleksandar Lazarevic, chairman of the Culture and Information Committee.
