55th sitting of the Finance Committee

The Finance Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia held its fifty-fifth sitting, chaired by the Committee’s vice-chairman, Radojko Obradovic, on 29 September.

The Finance Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia held its fifty-fifth sitting, chaired by the Committee’s vice-chairman, Radojko Obradovic, on 29 September.

The Committee discussed and endorsed the report of the Assembly’s Commission for Public Procurement Procedure for External Audit Services, and proposed that an external auditor be engaged through public procurement procedure.

The National Assembly’s Decision to Engage an Appropriately Qualified Auditor to Perform External Audit of the Final Balances of the Budget of the Republic of Serbia and Compulsory Social Insurance Organisations for 2002, 2003 and 2004, adopted on 20 April 2006, foresees that the Commission should report to the Committee after the public procurement procedure is complete, and propose the selection of the most favourable bidder. The Committee is thereupon to submit the proposal of a decision to engage an auditor through public procurement procedure.

Under the endorsed report, Belgrade-based auditor Deloitte is the only candidate to perform external audit of the final balances of the budgets of the Serbian budget and budgets of compulsory social insurance organisations for 2002, 2003, and 2004.

Mr Obradovic announced that the Committee’s next sitting would include the election of members of the Council of the State Audit Institution.
