At its fourth session, held on 12 May, the Committee on Environmental Protection adopted its project proposal for applying for funding from the OSCE Committee Development Fund.

The project aims at improving the Committee’s work, opening it to the public, as well as allowing members of the public to directly inspect the implementation of legislation.

The Committee is planning visits to cement plants (Novi Popovac, Kosjeric and Beocin), national parks (Tara, Kopaonik, Fruska Gora, Djerdap and Sar Planina), and, especially, a visit to the Bara Zasavica nature preserve.

The project also foresees public debates on the strategy of managing nature preserves, international co-operation and education projects designed to improve environmental protection.

The project is planned to be implemented within seven months, while Committee members are to use the time to establish co-operation with local self-government bodies in Bajina Basta, Bor, Leposavic, Pancevo and Kraljevo.
