At its forty-second session, held on 6 October, the Justice and Administration Committee discussed the announcement of the High Judicial Council on the appointment of judges and presiding judges by the National Assembly.
At its forty-second session, held on 6 October, the Justice and Administration Committee discussed the announcement of the High Judicial Council on the appointment of judges and presiding judges by the National Assembly. The session was attended by Vida Petrovic-Skero, Presiding Justice of the Supreme Court of Serbia and chairperson of the High Judicial Council, as well as by the Minister of Justice, Zoran Stojkovic.
The Committee also discussed proposals of decisions on the appointment of judges and presiding judges of courts of general competence, proposed by the High Judicial Council.When the session resumed (on 10 October), the Committee discussed reports on the termination of office and reasons for dismissal of judicial officials, and drafted appropriate Decisions to be forwarded to the National Assembly.
The Committee requested the Ministry of Justice, the High Judicial Council and the Republic Public Prosecutor to submit information on proceedings against judicial officials being discharged at their own request.
Committee members resolved not to adopt decisions on dismissal on grounds of neglect of duty and incompetence in individual cases, and requested complete information on the work of a court where proceedings against one judge have been instituted. The deputies also asked for information on all proceedings instituted against judicial officials.
