On the behalf of the submitter, the bills were elaborated by Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic.

Speaking of the Bill on Public Enterprises, Sertic said that the previous law was full of ambiguities leaving plenty of room for different interpretations, and the overall results of the public enterprises being problematic at best. The Minister stressed that the state needs to have more control over the operation of public enterprises, particularly local enterprises.

The Minister also provided the rationale for the Bill on Metrology which chiefly strives to improve the flow of commodities between Serbia and the EU, and for the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Control of Precious Metal Articles whish, he said, would raise Serbia’s competitiveness on the foreign market.

Sertic also provided the rationale on the Bill on acquiring ownership rights of the grounds, facilities and lines of the joint stock company for the production and processing of steel Zelezara Smederevo d.o.o. Smederevo and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Public-Private Partnership and Concessions.

The Committee members then went on to adopt, by majority vote, the Bill on Public Enterprises, Bill on Metrology, Bill amending and modifying the Law on Control of Precious Metal Articles, Bill on acquiring ownership rights of the grounds, facilities and lines of the joint stock company for the production and processing of steel Zelezara Smederevo d.o.o. Smederevo and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Public-Private Partnership and Concessions, in principle.

The sitting was attended by Committee members and deputy members Olivera Pauljeskic, Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic, Ivana Dinic, Goran Ciric, Djordje Cabarkapa, Nikola Jolovic, Sasa Maksimovic, Goran Vukadinovic, Milosav Milojevic, Vladan Milosevic and Dragan Jovanovic.
