36th Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee

At the sitting held on 30 July, the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee accepted several initiatives for upcoming visits, noted the regular activities of the National Assembly’s standing delegations and adopted the reports on previously realised visits and contacts.

The Committee members then proceeded to consider and propose that the National Assembly accept the Bill on International Restrictive Measures and the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Finland on Succession and Consolidation of Bilateral Treaties.

The bills were elaborated by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who said that the Bill on International Restrictive Measures fulfils the obligation to respect and implement international restrictive measures in accordance with international law and the obligations stemming from membership in international organisations (United Nations). Assistant Minister Branimir Filipovic said that by passing the Bill Serbia would be fulfilling one of the obligations of Negotiation Chapter 31 – Foreign, Security and Defence Policy, as outlined in the National Plan for the Adoption of the EU Acquis Communautaire.

At the sitting, the Committee also set up a Parliamentary Friendship Group with Ethiopia, electing MP Zlata Djeric PFG Head.

The Committee also accepted the amendments and modifications to the composition of the PGFs with Malta, Bahrain and the Republic of Korea.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Aleksandra Djurovic.
