34th Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee

At the 34th sitting, held on 22 June, the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee considered the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Moldova on Visa Abolition for the Citizens of the Two Countries.

Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Dragan Momcilovic presented the Bill stressing that an Agreement had been signed with Moldova in 2005 to abolish visas for bearers of diplomatic passports and is still in force. Serbia’s motives to abolish visas for Moldovans stem from several factors: agreement of the Ministry of Interior since there are no security threats, EU visa liberalization i.e. Moldova being on the list of countries whose citizens can travel to the EU without visas, the Agreement on Readmission and Moldova’s non-recognition of the independence of Kosovo-Metohija.

Following a short discussion, the Committee members unanimously decided to propose that the National Assembly accept the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Moldova on Visa Abolition for the Citizens of the Two Countries.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Deputy Chairperson Dr Dijana Vukomanovic.
