At the sitting held on 13 October, the members of the Culture and Information Committee adopted the Decision to launch proceedings for the nomination of candidates for the election of three members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media.

Pursuant to the Law on Electronic Media the Committee members ascertained that the right to nominate candidates for members of the Council of the Regulator belongs to associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children, if they were registered for at least three years prior to the date of the public announcement of the call and have a minimum of three implemented projects in this area in the last three years, the competent committee of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and churches and religious communities, which by mutual agreement submit to the Culture and Information Committee the nomination, with rationale, of no more than two candidates for a member of the Council of the Regulator.

Committee Chairperson Vesna Marjanovic appealed to the authorised nominators to submit their candidate proposals within the appropriate deadline.

Under item “any other business”, Committee member Dusica Stojkovic invited the Committee members to lend their support and take part in the events organised within the Week of Parliamentarism, organised in Serbia for the first time, from 19 to 25 October 2015.

Then Committee member Milorad Cvetanovic said it would be important for the Culture and Information Committee to organise a sitting dedicated to the situation concerning Pristina’s bid to join UNESCO.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Vesna Marjanovic.
