31st Sitting of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee

At the sitting held on 1 October, the members of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee discussed and unanimously accepted the Bill on the Confirmation of the Veterinary Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The Bill was elaborated by acting Head of the Veterinary Directorate Dejan Bugarski who said that the agreement regulates issues important for the trade in animals and animal products, exchange of import-export certificates, exchange of reports on the animal disease situation, and conditions for export-import limitations or bans. The Agreement also defines the conditions facilitating the trade in animals and animal products and prevention of the spread of disease, as well as cooperation between the two countries’ veterinary directorates and scientific institutions. The Agreement also states that in case of disputes, the cost is to be borne by the country which issued the veterinary certificate.

The debate mainly focused on when the implementation of the Agreement would start, and on abiding by the veterinary agreements Serbia has with other countries relating to the exchange of reports on animal diseases.

The Committee members also unanimously adopted a Conclusion on the agricultural producers’ problems relating to the payment of pension and disability insurance contributions, discussed at the Committee’s 30th sitting.

Committee Chairman Marijan Risticevic also announced that a sitting will be held outside of the Assembly headquarters, with the support of UNDP, on 8 and 9 October, in Leskovac.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Marijan Risticevic.
