27th Virtual IAO General Assembly
MP Aleksandar Cotric took part in the 27th General Assembly of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO) on 17 September 2020, via video-link.
In the course of the General Assembly, the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy also had elections for the organisation’s bodies to a two-year mandate, re-electing Sergei Gavrilov of the Russian Federation IAO President. Member of Hellenic Parliament Maximos Charakopoulos was elected new Secretary General of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy. In his address, Charakopoulos stressed that the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy would strive to protect Orthodox sacred sites across the globe, including the temples of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo-Metohija. Alexander Fomenko of the Russian Federation was elected IAO counsellor and MP Aleksandar Cotric was elected member of the International Secretariat of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy.
The General Assembly was attended by about 20 representatives of the standing delegations, guests and observers from other international organisations.
