27th Sitting of the Security Services Control Committee

At the sitting held on 21 March 2019, the Security Services Control Committee considered and adopted the Inspector General of the Ministry of Defence Services Activity Report for the period 1 July – 31 December 2018.


In the reporting period the Inspector General realized all the scheduled tasks in full and duly cooperated with the Military Intelligence and Military Security agencies which, in the Committee members’ opinion, improved the quality, efficiency, legality and regularity of the services’ work. The Committee fully supports the Inspector General’s control over the work of the Ministry of Defence security services because it believes this type of supervision to advance the legality and regularity of the security services’ work.

The Committee went on to ascertain the Report on supervisions of security services’ activities conducted in 2018. The Committee ascertained, through the security services’ activity reports, that all three of the Republic of Serbia’s security services acted professionally and in line with the law. All relevant findings, assessments and analyses of security challenges, risks and threats had been forwarded to the relevant authorities in a timely manner. In the course of their supervisory visits the to the security services, the Committee members ascertained that there had been no omissions or irregularities in the implementation of special procedures and measures for the collection of confidential data as stipulated by law. The security services were open and constructive during the supervisory visits and allowed the Committee members access to all the relevant documentation.

The Committee also adopted the 2019 Activity Plan which contains sittings to review the security services’ regular reports, to be followed by supervisory visits to said services as is its duty stipulated by law concerning the supervision and control of the security services’ activity.

The sitting, closed to the public, was chaired by Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic.
