27th Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee

At the sitting held on 16 October, the Foreign Affairs Committee adopted several initiatives for visits in October and November 2013, noted the regular activities of the National Assembly standing delegations and adopted the reports on visits and contacts realised in the previous period.

At the sitting, the Committee also noted the amendments and modifications to the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Iran. A new parliamentary friendship group was also set up – with the parliaments of Central and South African countries (Kenya, Zaire, Congo, Gabon, Tanzania, Zambia, Angola, Mali, Ghana, Guinea and Zimbabwe) and Maja Gojkovic was elected Head of the group.
The Committee members went on to conduct an interview with Sani Dermaku, newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Slovak Republic, before his deployment to diplomatic duty. Ambassador Dermaku briefed the Committee members on the bilateral relations between Serbia and Slovakia, which, he said, are successful both in the political and other spheres. The priorities in the upcoming period will be to maintain intensive political dialogue and improve parliamentary cooperation, especially as regards European integration, as well as regional and economic cooperation.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Milos Aligrudic.
