26th Sitting of the European Integration Committee

At the sitting held on 28 November, the European Integration Committee reviewed the working version of the Resolution on the role of the National Assembly and principles in the negotiations on the accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union.


Natasa Vuckovic, Committee Chairperson and president of the working group drafting the Resolution, said that the working version of the resolution had been formulated in cooperation with all the expert teams working on the preparation of negotiating positions and NGOs. Vuckovic said that the National Assembly would play a consulting role in the negotiation process, and the Government is expected to discuss the National Assembly’s suggestions before establishing its final negotiating positions.
The Committee Chairperson briefed the Committee members on the procedure which states that, once the Resolution text is adopted at a Committee sitting, the Resolution proposal should be sent to the National Assembly for deliberation and ruling. In addition, the text of the Resolution will be sent to the Government for an opinion, the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues and the relevant National Assembly Committee.
Following a discussion and debate on the amendments to the text of the Resolution, the Committee members adopted the proposal of the Resolution on the role of the National Assembly and principles in the negotiations on the accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union.
The sitting was attended by the Minister responsible for European Integration, Branko Ruzic.

This sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Natasa Vuckovic.
