At its session held on 28 February, the Culture and Information Committee discussed the Report on the Activities of the Audit Commission for the Museum of Yugoslav History. Members of the Culture Committee suggested that the Government of the Republic of Serbia should transform the Museum of Yugoslav History Administrative Organisation into a cultural institution and that, in accordance with the Act on the Implementation of the Constitutional Charter of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, regulate ownership of the museum’s collection. The Culture and Information Committee suggested that adequate measures should be taken to protect cultural heritage objects.

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, Rodoljub Sabic, addressed the Culture and Information Committee with a request for deputies to consider issues arising in the implementation of the Act on Unrestricted Access to Information of Public Importance. The Committee recommended that all bodies should take all necessary steps to ensure compliance with the Act, and advised the Government of the Republic of Serbia to provide adequate premises, equipment and other conditions necessary for the work of the Commissioner, and the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to approve regulations on the organisation and scope of work of the Service of the Commissioner.

Members of the Culture and Information Committee endorsed, in principle, the Bill Amending and Modifying the Public Information Act.
