Presenting the Ministry of Defence Activity Information, Minister Bratislav Gasic said that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces functioned in a relatively stable security environment and, despite the bad economic situation, planned efforts and austerity measures have ensured the stable functioning of the defence system and completion of tasks within the Ministry’s scope, as well as the maintenance of the Serbian Army’s operative and functioning capabilities for the completion of missions and tasks at hand.

The Minister said that, in the abovementioned period, the Serbian Army had shown full readiness and completed all of its tasks, especially during the floods Serbia suffered on two occasions. He also said that the Army had prepared and executed several complex land, water and air exercises. Presenting the activity information on the Ministry of Defence, among other things, Minister Gasic spoke of defence planning, international cooperation, defence system funding and significant representation of women in the Serbian Army.

The Committee members accepted the Ministry of Defence Activity Information for the period April-June 2014, July-September 2014 and October-December 2014, by majority vote.

The sitting was attended by State Secretary Zoran Djordjevic, acting secretary to the Ministry of Defence Colonel Nebojsa Nikolic and Major General Slavoljub Janicijevic.

The sitting was chaired by Marija Obradovic, Committee Chairperson.
