23rd Sitting of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society

At the sitting held on 22 March, the members of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society discussed in principle the Bill on National Qualifications Framework, Bill on Textbooks and the Bill on School Inspection, submitted by the Government.


The sitting was attended by Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mladen Sarcevic who presented the bills.

Minister Sarcevic said that the Bill on National Qualifications Framework harmonizes the national with the EU legislation and European qualification models to ensure workforce mobility.

Speaking of the Bill on Textbooks Minister Sarcevic said that it rectifies the irregularities observed in the course of the implementation of the existing law. Among other things, it proposes the establishment of a Low-Budget Textbook Centre to prepare textbooks in national minority languages and for children with developmental difficulties.

The Bill on School Inspection specifies the tasks, duties, obligations and election procedures of school inspectors.

Following a brief discussion the Committee members adopted the bills in principle.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dr Muamer Zukorlic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Dr Danica Bukvic, Fatmir Hasani, Ratko Jankov, Djordje Kosanic, Natasa Jovanovic, Olena Papuga, Dr Vladimir Orlic, Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic, Prof. Dr Marko Atlagic, Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic and Milena Bicanin.
