22nd Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee
At the sitting held on 28 August, the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee conducted an interview with Prof. Dr Zoran Bingulac, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro, before his deployment to diplomatic duty.
Ambassador Bingulac briefed the Committee members on the chief trends of the Montenegrin internal and foreign policy and the bilateral relations between Serbia and Montenegro, declaring them very subtle and pointing out the need to strengthen economic ties and cultural, educational and scientific cooperation between the two nations. Ambassador Bingulac also stressed that he expected a continuation of the reciprocal top-level state visits, listing addressing the open issues as one of the priorities of his mission to Montenegro, such as the status of the Serbian community in Montenegro, position of the Serbian Orthodox Church and exiles’ issues. He also added that the chief role of the Ambassador to Montenegro would be to achieve the Republic of Serbia’s foreign policy priorities.
At the sitting, the Committee members also reviewed and accepted several initiatives for visits of National Assembly representatives, as well as representatives of foreign representative bodies to the National Assembly. The Committee members also accepted reports on visits and contacts realised in the previous period.
The sitting was chaired by Milos Aligrudic, Committee Chairman.
