22nd Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 11th Legislature

At the request of 155 MPs, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic convened the 22nd Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 11th Legislature, for Thursday, 6 February 2020, starting at 10 am.


Before commencing the proceedings, the heads i.e. authorised representatives of the parliamentary groups, MPs Prof. Dr Vojislav Seselj, Tatjana Macura, Milija Miletic, Jelena Vujic Obradovic, Djordje Vukadinovic and Aleksandar Markovic, requested information and explanations in line with article 287 of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure.

The request to hold the session specified the following agenda:

  1. Bill amending the Law on Election of Members of Parliament, submitted by 103 MPs of the Serbian Progressive Party Parliamentary Group;
  2. Bill amending the Law on Election of Members of Parliament, submitted by MP Gordana Comic;
  3. Bill amending and modifying the Law on Local Elections, submitted by 103 MPs of the Serbian Progressive Party Parliamentary Group;
  4. Bill amending the Law on Local Elections, submitted by MP Gordana Comic.
The National Assembly accepted the proposal of National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic to complete a joint debate in principle on all the items on the agenda.

The MPs then commenced the joint debate in principle on items 1 to 4 on the agenda, presented by the Head of the Serbian Progressive Party Parliamentary Group Dr Aleksandar Martinovic and MP Gordana Comic.

By the end of the day the National Assembly completed the joint debate in principle on all the items on the agenda

On the second day of the proceedings, 8 February, the National Assembly completed a debate on the amendments submitted to the four bills.

As the National Assembly had completed the debate in principle and in detail on all the items on the agenda, the Chair, National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic set Saturday, 8 February, as Voting Day on all the items on the agenda of the 22nd Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 11th Legislature, starting at 5.30 pm.

Voting Day

On Voting Day, 8 February, by majority vote, the National Assembly adopted the Bill amending the Law on Election of Members of Parliament, submitted by 103 MPs of the Serbian Progressive Party Parliamentary Group, Bill amending the Law on Election of Members of Parliament, submitted by MP Gordana Comic, Bill amending and modifying the Law on Local Elections, submitted by 103 MPs of the Serbian Progressive Party Parliamentary Group, and the Bill amending the Law on Local Elections, submitted by MP Gordana Comic.

As the National Assembly had completed the debate on all the items on the agenda and ruled on them, National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic concluded the 22nd Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 11th Legislature.
