20th sitting of the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues
The Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues held its twentieth sitting on 21 February. The sitting was chaired by Ivana Kovacevic.

Committee members agreed on the Committee’s plan of activities for 2006.
The sitting was also attended by officials of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), who presented the Programme of Co-operation with the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues and other Assembly Committees. UNDP has offered to provide assistance in the form of seminars, study visits to other countries in the region, and professional consulting services in considering proposed legislation.
Employment strategy and issues in the private sector’s absorption of the surplus workforce were singled out as key issues.
Committee members were informed of petitions filed by members of the public, and agreed to set up a working group to consider such filings.
