20th Sitting of the Environmental Protection Committee
At the sitting held on 3 November, the Environmental Protection Committee discussed and unanimously accepted the Bill on the Confirmation of the Protocol on Sediment Management to the Framework Agreement on the Sava River Basin, submitted by the Government.
On the behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the Bill was elaborated by Dragana Milovanovic who said that the Cooperation Agreement signed by Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Croatia, Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Slovenia aims to establish an international navigation regime, sustainable water management, protection from water damage, water regime and water eco-systems.
The members of the Green Chair NGO took active part in the sitting. Green Chair member Irena Zivkovic, who had organised several protests in Bor, addressed the Environmental Protection Committee about the air pollution produced by the copper smelting facility opened in that city in December of last year, stating that the sulphur dioxide and heavy metal emissions are hazardous to the health of the citizens of Bor. Committee Deputy Chairman Ivan Karic proposed organising a special Committee sitting dedicated to the problem.
Milan Rogulja, member of Green Chair and association Biogen, thanked the Environmental Protection Committee for its support of the First Regional Conference on Non-Ionising Radiation.
