20th Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government

At the sitting held on 21 July 2021, the members of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government considered the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Judges, Bill amending the Law on the High Judiciary Council, Proposal of the Decision on the election of Republic Public Prosecutor and the Proposal of the Decision on the election of court presidents.

The Bill amending and modifying the Law on Judges and the Bill amending the Law on the High Judiciary Council were presented by Vladimir Vins, representative of the Ministry of Justice, who said that the amendments are actually the steps needed to meet the obligations contained within the international documents of recommendation of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO).

The Committee members proposed that the National Assembly accept the bills.

The Proposal of the Decision on the election of Republic Public Prosecutor was also presented by the representative of the Ministry of Justice Vladimir Vins who said that the Public Prosecutor is elected, at the proposal of the Government, by the National Assembly to a six-year term of office and can be re-elected. He proceeded to present the CV of Zagorka Dolovac, the candidate, and the Committee unanimously proposed that the National Assembly accept the Decision on the election of Republic Public Prosecutor.

The Proposal of the Decision on the election of court presidents, was presented by Zak Pavlovic, representative of the High Judicial Council, and the Committee members unanimously proposed that the National Assembly accept said Decision Proposal.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Deputy Chairperson Biljana Pantic Pilja and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Djordje Dabic, Nenad Baros, Dejan Kesar, Bratimir Vasiljevic, Dubravka Kralj, Doc. Dr Mihailo Jokic, Vesna Krisanov, Djordje Komlenski and Velibor Milojicic.
