20th Sitting of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues

At the sitting held on 24 March 2023, the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues established the list of applicants that meet the requisites for the election to the post of Ombudsman.


Committee Chairperson Jelena Zaric Kovacevic reminded the attending that the National Assembly Speaker had adopted the Decision on the public call for candidates for Ombudsman, published on the National Assembly website and in Politika daily on 11 February 2023, with a 30-day deadline for application from the moment of publication.

She went on to say that five applications have arrived, and the Committee proceeded to adopt the Decision establishing the list of applicants who meet the requirements for the election to the post of Ombudsman.

Candidate for Ombudsman can be proposed by any parliamentary group and several parliamentary groups can propose a single candidate for Ombudsman, 15 days from the publication of the list of applicants who meet the requirements for the election to the post of Ombudsman, said the Committee Chairperson.

In view of the aforementioned, the Committee decided to send a memo inviting the parliamentary groups to propose a candidate for Ombudsman from the list of applicants who meet the requirements for the election to the post of Ombudsman, from 8 to 12 April 2023.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Jelena Zaric Kovacevic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Dubravka Kralj, Dragan Nikolic, Milica Nikolic, Dr Ugljesa Mrdic, Sanja Brankovic Jefic, Tomic Zoran, Sanja Lakic, Nenad Mitrovic, Vladimir Gajic, Dr Zika Bujuklic, Nebojsa Cakic, Pavle Grbovic, Olja Petrovic and Aleksandar Olenik.
