19th Sitting of the Committee on Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy

At the sitting held on 25 June 2021, the members of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy considered the Bill on the Confirmation of the Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Joint Declaration relating to a Trilateral Approach to Rules of Origin and Joint Declaration on the connection between the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland and the Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Agreement submitted by the Government.

The Bill was presented by State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Stevan Nikcevic whop said that enabling the same regulatory form of cooperation between the signatories is at the core of this Agreement, and to address issues of general state cooperation, cooperation in international organisations, security policies and the overall economic sphere. It was pointed out that the UK is one of Serbia’s most important economic partners and this Agreement is supposed to maintain the same level of trade liberalisation that existed while Britain was a member of the European Union.

Following a discussion, the Committee adopted the Bill unanimously, with nine votes in favour.


The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Veroljub Arsic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Snezana Petrovic, Dragomir Karic, Vesna Stambolic, Natasa Ljubisic, Nevenka Kostadinova, Ugljesa Markovic, Milos Bandjur and Mladen Boskovic.
