18th Sitting of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee

At the sitting held on 25 August 2023, the members of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management considered the following items:


1.Irregularities concerning eAgrar applications – 500,000 ha of uncultivated agricultural land in incentive applications;
2.Information concerning the African swine fever and
3.Raspberry growers’ complaints and demands

The Chairman of the of the Subcommittee for Monitoring the Agricultural Situation in Marginal - Least Developed Areas of the Republic of Serbia - Areas with Difficult Working Conditions in Agriculture Milija Miletic who had initiated the holding of this witting spoke about the first two items on the agenda.

Speaking of the eAgrar system, it was pointed out that it is a system that allows all household data to be held in one place freeing farmers from paperwork, waiting at counters and costs and additionally contributes to speeding up subsidy application process.

Miletic said that a large number of people living in Svrljig and surrounding municipalities are interested in registering in eAgrar and re-registering their activities. He also explained that there is information about a large number of farms and farmers who, out of ignorance, entered wrong data in eAgrar and suggested that they be allowed to correct these mistakes, and that the smaller percentage of people who did it on purpose be sanctioned accordance with the Law.

Miletic also spoke about the African swine fever, pointing out that solving this serious problem requires expert opinion, that is, that all the relevant institutions need to work together to find an appropriate solution.

The Committee members, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management: State Secretary Jelena Blagojevic, Head of the Veterinary Directorate Milos Petrovic, Assistant Minister of the Rural Development Sector Aleksandar Bogicevic and representative of the Republic Geodetic Authority acting assistant director Jelena Matic Varenica spoke on said topics

They stressed that there would be no sanctions, regardless of any observed irregularities, against people who incorrectly reported plant structure in eAgrar, rather they would be given the opportunity to correct this within a given deadline, until the end of the current year.

Speaking of the African swine fever, an infectious disease of domestic and wild pigs, the attending appealed to every farm where pigs are kept and raised to notify the veterinary services as soon as they notice the first symptoms of the disease, so that the disease can be diagnosed more quickly, in order to prevent its spread, suppress and eradicate it. The representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management said that 2,238 cases of African swine fever have been registered in Serbia to date and that 31,417 pigs have been euthanized.

The Committee went on to discuss raspberry growers’ complaints and demands.

Following a constructive discussion, the Committee formulated a number of conclusions on the considered items on the agenda.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Marijan Risticevic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Dijana Radovic, Marko Ristic, Milija Miletic, Momir Stojilkovic, Dusan Radojevic, Dr Nenad Mitrovic, Milica Obradovic, Dragan Jovanovic, Zoran Sandic, Dr Anna Oreg, Nikola Bokan, Ilo Mihajlovski, Dejan Ignjatovic, MA Akos Ujhelyi and Milovan Jakovljevic.
